Description

This is a freind of mine whom had a lumpectomy in her left breast a few years ago. Her cancer is in remission now.  Her goal was to let people know that no matter the changes to your body, you never stop being proud of what and who you are. We talked about doing a photo that showcased the changes cuased by her surgery and this is the result we hit on.

Your friend was brave to let you take this picture of her scar like this. Breast cancer is an extremely important issue, but a lot of people forget exactly what can happens to its victims, including those who survive. We see the shaved heads, but not the removed breasts. We run the races, but we don't see the scars. We talk, but we don't see, do we? More light needs to be brought to this side of the breast cancer discussion. We need less pink ribbons and more photos like this. Maybe we can make some progress by having women like this show their scars.
